#8: Kentucky Crapwagon: The Horror Cinema of William Girdler

Download episode here.

Episode Description: This month, Steve & I, the Click and Clack of DIY movie podcasts, get festive with a Halloween-themed episode dedicated to the horror films of William Girdler. Girdler is the director of such films as Abby, the rather hard-to-find blaxploitation rip-off of The Exorcist, and Grizzly, a Jaws rip-off starring a big fuckin’ bear. The man’s films may not be considered high art any time soon but both Steve & I found a lot to argue about when it comes to the dubious merits of Asylum of Satan, Grizzly, Three on a Meathook and The Manitou, the latter of which is probably not only Girdler’s best but also his most infamous. Also featured on this ‘cast is a discussion of Werewolves on Wheels, as high a concept film as you’re likely to see. You voted for it as part of our monthly Netflix Grab Bag initiative so we watched it and boy, is it…different. Be sure to vote for next month’s Netflix Grab Bag.
