Luke Gorham has been an InRO fixture since becoming the right-hand man to a baby-faced Sam C. Mac in 2007. He gloried in his beta status until officially taking over as Editor-in-Chief in 2020 after the birth of Sam’s son. He writes on film, music, and literature, and discovered during 2020’s quarantine that he can grow a Rasputin beard. He has some credentials regarding books and computers that get him paid, but more importantly, he has the fattest cat among InRO staff. He would like it known that he once observed Sam C. Mac take a drunken nap under the table in a bar.

Morris needs to get out of the house more often, because he has developed an unhealthy obsession with his MUBI subscription and a seemingly unending pile of screeners. He adores existential dread, and dreads the existence of the adorable.

Copyeditor

Emily DuGranrut is an unprofessional professional archivist by day and extremely amateur film lover by night. She spends the rest of her time taking photos of her cats, planning vacations she will never take, reading, and hiking. She has an MLIS from Wayne State University and a degree in journalism from Ohio University, but who cares? She was fired from the New York Times.

Editor Emeritus

Sam C. Mac has worked in film and music journalism for the last 15 years, with a particular focus on Chinese cinema. (He lived in China from 2012 to 2014.) Publications that he has written for include Slant MagazineThe AV ClubFLOOD Magazine, and of course In Review Online — which he founded, with his platonic life partner Luke Gorham. He has a degree in East Asian Studies from Columbia University, and he is also a husband, and a father (to a rambunctious baby born in the midst of a pandemic). He will also hopefully, someday, make a living wage.

Ayeen is an Iranian film critic and cinephile based in Tehran, and he has been working as a critic and translator with various domestic publications for roughly a decade. Although cinema has always been a constant fascination in his life, studying English and the arts helped him to foster a broader appreciation and enthusiasm for different forms of art and entertainment, and to remain an avid, full-time learner and humble aesthete.

Steven grew up in a small, no-stoplight town in the middle of central Michigan and realized his love of film when he would spend his afternoons scouring the shelves of his local mom-and-pop video store for the works of Brian De Palma and George A. Romero. Steven currently teaches Film Studies at Bradley University in Peoria, IL and co-hosts the podcast Summer Blockbuster!?! with In Review Online Editor-in-Chief Luke Gorham. Steven hopes to one day view a film that offers as transformative an experience as the Sylvester Stallone arm-wrestling opus Over the Top.
