The New Directors/New Films festival has emerged in recent years as a major player on the festival scene, programming such diverse heavy-hitters as Black Mother, An Elephant Sitting Still, Milla, and End of the Century over the past two years. And so it was disheartening, an eternity ago in the early days of COVID’s North American transplant, when the festival was forced to postpone. But just in time to clip the tail end of 2020, ND/NF has been resurrected, playing December 9-20 on Film at Lincoln Center’s virtual platform, and InRO is here for it. The festival was forced to dropped three of its previously announced titles, and now features a lineup of 24 features (and 10 shorts), of which we have already written about nine. Below are those titles to kick things off, before we circle back later this week and next with another three dispatches taking on the majority of the festival’s slate.
