It’s been only a short four months since the postponed 2020 edition of New Directors/New Films wrapped up, but the fest is back on schedule in 2021 (only slightly delayed from its usual late-March commencement) and celebrating its 50th Anniversary. ND/NF ’21 kicks off today and runs until May 8 in Film at Lincoln Center’s Virtual Cinema, and additionally until May 14 for FLC in-person screenings. The slate features 27 features and 11 shorts, and InRO will be covering a majority of it over the next two weeks. That coverage begins today, with a look at 10 films we’ve already written on — many of which are are hearty recommends — and will be followed up by three additional dispatches across the festival’s duration.
