The inline skate is a useful metaphor for the life of Alex (Ani Mesa-Perez), the young woman on the cusp of adulthood in Erin Vassilopoulos’ second feature Destroy All Girls. These hard plastic shoes with little spinning wheels — fixed and stable, sturdy to the point of rigidity — that she and her brother, Gabriel (Gil Perez-Abraham), wear in order to tear through their New Jersey neighborhood nevertheless afford the skater who wears them a certain amount of freedom.
